For many of us our home is sacred, it is where the heart lives and gains security from the outer environment; a place where we can let go after a long day, enjoy a quiet moment of reflection or simply commune with our family. On the other hand, when you are around the house or busy with chores, do you sometimes get the sense that the energy seems a bit unbalanced or stale? Maybe it lacks that familiar comfort you have become accustom to enjoying? Well, you just might be onto something! Especially if you keep your windows closed for long periods of time, the curtains are always drawn and you have not had the time to give your home a thorough cleaning. If any of these descriptions fit the general being of your home, maybe its time to pull back the drapes, open the windows, turn on your favorite music and clean, clean, clean. Chasing way all the dust and cob webs, so the light can shine. These small steps will set your house well on the road to regaining its balance and proper flow of energy. Start by asking the Divine Universe to bless and bestow protection upon your home by allowing the light to shine freely through it. You may then follow-up by burning the sacred resins of Frankincense (Olibanum) and Myrrh to complete the cleaning and clearing process. If you have never burned the resins of frankincense and myrrh before and are wondering where to purchase such items, you should inquire at your neighborhood health food establishments or any religious book store. In case you have trouble locating a resource near home, go online and Google suppliers of incense and resins. You should find scores of suppliers near and far. When purchasing your resins, be sure to include a censer to burn the resins in; the censer can also be used to spread the fragrant smoke all around the home. It is important to remember when fumigating, the smoke needs to get into every nook and cranny. An alternative to Fumigation is Smudging. Both methods of energy cleansing have been used across cultural and religious boundaries since ancient times. All you need is a tightly wound bundle of White Sage (salvia – “to heal”). Light one end of the smudging stick, until it catches fire. Let it burn before blowing it out, then began wafting and blowing the smoke all over your place. Pay special attention around windows, door ways and high up corners. Walk from room to room to make sure the smoke finds its way into every nook. What ever cleansing method you choose, make sure all the windows and doors are closed. Only after the purification process is complete should they be opened allowing the smoke to carry away all old energy. If all this seems like too much effort on your part, I suggest buying or preparing a liquid cleanser. Therapeutate manufactures a “Purifying Myst” made from organic, wild-crafted, therapeutic grade essential oils combined with distilled water. This product is made primarily of white sage with rose, geranium and verbena; it is perfectly suited for spiritual cleansing. You can also prepare you own blend. Start by purchasing the essential oils of Frankincense and Myrrh or White Sage. Again you can obtain these items at any health food store or online. Combine 60-108 drops of the essential oil with 4 ounces of distilled water in a sprayer. Simply shake and spray where ever clearing is required. If you prefer effortless fumigation, I recommend using Fred Soll’s resins-on-a-stick or Nature Nature Pure Resin Incense; they are two of the best incense on the market. FS is made by hand and dried in the Arizona sun while NN is an offering through Royal Incense. Try the Frankincense and Myrrh Ancient Blend or the Sacred Sage. No matter the method you choose to apply in your home the end result will be a home that is clean, balanced and full of life. c. 2009 Rodney Hughes, All Rights Reserved Institut Therapeutate

Mourning Rere's Clothes A very dear friend who recently lost her grandmother sent me an email in one of those moments that invariably come up after the loss of a loved one. I would like to share our conversation with you because I believe it might bring some comfort to anyone experiencing deep sorrow and physical loss. Friend: I went to my Grandmother's house today to pickup her things that I want to keep. Her caregiver is moving out today, and my Aunt moves in next month. A month or so ago, my mom told me that the caregiver took it upon herself to "give" grandmother's clothes (that were in her dresser) to charity. I was pissed because that wasn't her decision to make. My mom said she told her not to give anything else away either. Both my mom and I are too busy and distracted with other things to spend extra time and energy by getting angry about this. But...I'm pissed right now. When I was there today, I really didn't realize that ALL of her clothes were gone until I went to her bedroom and the caregiver immediately started talking way too fast about the fact that my Mom said she could keep some things and give the rest away. When I told her my mother never said she could give away the clothes in my grandmother's dresser, she admitted that she shouldn't have done it. Anyway, my point is, as I opened the closets and there was ONE piece of clothing left. It was a gorgeous black and white poncho. So I kept it. Tonight I smelled it and it smells just like my grandmother!! It retained her scent. I smelled it again a few minutes ago and it smelled so much like her that I started to cry. I'm pissed because between my mother donating ALL of my grandmother's clothes and the caregiver "supposedly" giving the rest away, now the only thing I have left with her scent on it is her black and white poncho. It never occurred to me that I would want things with her scent on them until now. Originally I just wanted a few items of clothing to keep for sentimental reasons. Now that I realize her scent is on them, I really wish I had more. The caregiver, said she gave the clothes to So Others May Eat (SOME). Why would she be so eager to rush to empty the dresser of someone's clothes that she doesn't own?? I really want my grandmother's hand bags, so perhaps if they're in the charity's store, then one of them might still be there. If it's legit, then I'll find them. At our age, you and I are still one of the few people that I know who lost someone very close to them. How did you handle things like this when your mom passed? What do you think I should do? Me: I think you should follow your heart, each of us grieve differently. The only thing I took away when my mom passed was a white ceramic cross my brother Roy made and had given her. When my mom passed I just handled the business at hand, only crying once. The Friday after leaving the funeral home to make sure she was dressed properly. Thinking about this makes me very sad and tear up. For one month after I stay with my family that made it easier to bare. So about a month after a came back to New York my sorrow was so deep I couldn't even get out of bed. It was pretty much that way when my grandmother passed years before, now it was my mother. The one thing that helped me deal with both passing were that they visited me on number of occasions. My grandmother came to me in a vision letting me know she made it over. This gave me some comfort but when she slipped away in the vision it was like a part of my being was being ripped away. I cried uncontrollably for hours. When she came she had the tomato red substance covering her face that we all had to wipe away. She explained to me in the vision how difficult her journey had been, but how she had made it over safely. We were so puzzled that we turned to each other to figure it out that's when she slipped away from us again. I later learn in 2013 that the tomato red substance covering her face represented the breaking of the Akashic Egg. Meaning she had completed her life cycles and was freed not to have another one. My mom on the other hand talked with me through the entire ordeal. She was telling me new jokes and making me laugh throughout most of the time I was home. She kept me in stitches! One of my cousin on my Dad's side of the family asked my why was I laughing, but I told her she wouldn't understand. I did later explain to her that I kept hearing my mother's voice. She was telling me all sorts of things, making new jokes and instructed me about what happened to her in the hospital. She conveyed to me how pleased she was with the arrangements I had made and how she appreciated me eulogizing her. When I came back to New York, she came to me in the dawn one morning, asking if it would be alright for her to lay at the foot of my bed? I let her know it would be fine. Since returning to NYC, I had been leaving the light on in my study adjacent to the foot of my bed. I was I bit scared because I knew eventually she would come and reveal herself to me, so I would sleep with the light on. Before she laid down, she asked if I wanted her to turn the light off in my study. I responded no it's OK, then she curled up at the foot of my bed and we both drifted to sleep. This was one of many visits after her passing. Another was when I awaken one morning to her preparing breakfast for me on my grandmothers old white eight burner stove. She was preparing eggs, bacon and toast and told me I could go wash my hands before eating. By the time I returned from washing my hands she had gone, but that experience gave me great comfort. I am just stay, there is little that separates us from those we love!!! So even though I had to mourn the physically separation of the crossing over of the two most beloved women in my life, the experience of them being still very close brought me a lot of comfort. Death does not part us, it's just a different prospective on reality. It rips the veil, we must learn to break the wood and lift the rock. It opens us up to the many dimensions of our power and the universality within our reach. Even you having her poncho to smell is so powerful, it's a way to experience her in the now. So yes, physically she's gone but she's right their with you always. Recommended Reading:

Let us not forget how important the role food plays in our transformational journey. What we put into our bodies effect us on many levels. I have found that when I eat most any packaged goods or foods that are high is preservatives my body's energy is greatly reduce. Generally, I can tell immediately when I have eaten something that I should not have. My mouth starts to water, or my throat gets tighter or I get this covering over my energy. This kind of connection has taken me years to development, but I has strengthen through having been exposed to Vegan, Vegetarian and Raw Foods. While my diet doesn't adhere strictly in any of those categories, I do not eat foods that have preservatives in them. Due to the immediate and long term effects they have on our bodies, I try to steer clear of them. However, I do try where possible to buy and prepare foods that are organic, free range, grass feed, non-GMO, live (raw), wild caught and drink loads of filtered water. Having taken these steps, I am experiencing my body functioning at higher levels of energy and my mind being more focused and uncluttered. However I must add that I also include aromatherapy in my daily regimen as well. This gives an added boost of energy in the body and clarity of the mind. Being a perfumer, I have long recommended these five essential oils for optimal results. They should certainly be an intricate part of any travelers essentials. Lemon eo (organic or bio-dynamic) for revitalization, its like having Beethovens' Symphony #5 in a bottle. Then their is Rosemary, it awakens the mind for concentration and gives a general spa feeling to any atmosphere. Lavender being the "Mother" of all essential oils is very good for calming and it has anti-Bacterial qualities. When traveling it can help keep bed bugs at bay. A few drops on and around the bed works very well. Geranium eo is particularly good to have on hand. This eo helps to balance hormonal levels in women and its a very refreshing and uplifting essential oil. In the past, I have used it often in corporate environments, especially when large groups of people gather to make decisions. Finally, I would advise at least one wood or root essential oil to keep things grounded. East Indian Sandalwood is my pick, only because I just love what this oil does to my overall for my being. This is a great scent for grounding and for meditation; It's also has a very sedative quality as well. Most of these oils can be used sparingly to flavor our foods, organic lemon eo can be used in place of fresh squeezed lemon as you will see in the recipe I have provided above. Rosemary can be used to flavor potatoes, chicken and any number of foods. Lavender is often used to flavor, honey, preserves and even baked goods. I have used lavender to flavor and scent my recipe for ancient olive oil cookies, which I will provide in another installment of B/M/S series. For the purpose of this installment, I have included recipes for a typical dinner. It illustrates how to combine raw or live foods with cooked foods. I chose wild caught Atlantic Salmon for this instance.

"America had produced a King (enlightened being) but were not able to sustain this idea." On the eve of our national holiday, I ponder this thought so eloquently put by probably one of the world's greatest hearts when it comes to non-violent change. Thich Nhat Hanh and Martin Luther King, Jr. met during the Civil Rights movement. He came to American to meet with Martin during those turbulent times. While many of our parents and grand-parents were fighting for the right to be acknowledged. The Vietnam War was waging, Buddhist monks were setting themselves ablaze to be heard. They were against the Vietcong idea of "fighting to the death" sacrificing everything to in order to win. The Spiritual leaders of Vietnam believed non-violence and reconciliation was the way to proceed. They too found common ground and a hero in Martin Luther King, Jr. So when Thich Nhat Hanh came to America he explained to Martin that when the monks in Vietnam were sacrificing themselves it was an act of love, not suicide. This completely fueled Martin's desire to expand his territory. It was after this monumental meeting of the hearts of enlightened men, that propelled Martin to denounce the Vietnam War in American. This along with the his vision of bringing all suffering Americans together were probably two of the three acts that took him to the mountain top. "America had produced a King (enlighten being), but were not able to sustain this idea." Perhaps our memory of the cycles of life has not allowed us enough resonance (collective energy) yet to maintain such an idea as a modern day Bodhisattva. However, I am always hopeful and filled with faith and believe we have begun to hold this idea to be self evident. Like tiny grains of salt, we are gathering the wisdom needed to transform our collective conscience as a nation among nations. When we remember Martin Luther King, Jr. it should call to order the responsibility each of us have in the world's community to bring about small expansions in our compassion towards one another. When we pray and meditate start right where you are and envision the Sacred Heart of Christ. This sacred heart represents the sacrifice and suffering endured so that the world may still exist. Many enlightened beings have bore this enormous suffering to keep in balance the human condition. Martin is one among them. In honoring our American Saint, Thich Nhat Hanh says, "look to the clouds for understanding the divine in each of us. We are present in spirit even when we can not be seen by the eye." "Our force of life is always here, their, even after we seem to no longer be present among the living." In this spirit, we say Namaste! Martin, enlightened being, Bodhisattva. Yes, we are human, but I am often reminded of how our beings are expansive beyond the body. Embracing this concept, I see my dreams as a huge source of spiritual insight. They remind me that there are many dimensions to be explored. Each time I am allowed to take a journey to other levels. It reminds me of the depth of my connection to the force of light. The idea of this life force is a recurring theme in the insights I am shown. I see it largely as the source of our beings. This source speaks to us in many ways. For me the message of being a light within and light, within a light are the insights gained. The potential of such an insight proves very big for those of us on the path to wholeness. This understanding of the body experience and its marriage to the light force is of constant investigation for those building a spiritually holistic life. I woke up this morning as I walked down my neighborhood street and many different people passed me by. This song came to mind and it served as an inspiration for me as I began to awaken. It lifted me, so I decided to share it with you. Maybe it will be of some use to you in your walk of spiritual enlightenment. Lyrics: Shine, shine, shine Where ever we go Lord We're Gonna shine, shine, shine We are gonna be a light in darkness We gonna shine, shine, shine, Lord Where ever we go, Lord We gonna shine, shine, shine We gonna be a light in darkness Where ever we go Lord, We gotta shine, shine, shine We gotta be a light in darkness Where ever we go lord We gonna SHINE, SHINE, SHINE c. 2014 All Rights Reserved
The Secret
[For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever.] These few words found at the end of the traditional English translation of the Lords Prayer and most commonly referred to as a doxology (dox-ol-o-gy). The term doxology originates from the Greek doxologia, doxa giving glory logos meaning "WORD" like brothers would express to show accord with a commonly held idea or way of being. It is my sincere hope, that you are still with me, give me a moment, I am attempting to unweave entanglement of a very complex web. Traditionally, a doxology is said to be a short formula of praise to God. Another example of this can be found with the Great Doxology dated in the 1800s and written by Iakovos (the Protopsaltis). It is written in First Mode for you music officinatos which I am sure will carry some additional weight and allow better clarity. Stanzas 1-3 goes something like this: "Glory be to Thee who hast shown the light. Glory in the highest to God, and on Earth peace, good will among men. We praise Thee; we bless Thee; we worship Thee; we glorify Thee; we give thanks to Thee for Thy great glory. O Lord, King, heavenly God, the father Almighty, O Lord the only begot- ten Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit." I believe at this point you understand, this thing would have been sung, at least sometime after it was adapted into English by Hieromonk Ephraim. When this actually took place, I am not sure. But definitely it would have been sometime after having been interpreted by Athanasios Karamanis (the Protopsaltis of Thessaloniki) during the 1900s. Now, where were we?........... The web is mighty, but our ancestral connection is no less bridged to a greater sense of light. A light so powerful, it often blinds us of our physical seeing, telling us to push further threw the night in-order to access the truth. And I am telling you the truth exist all around us. I often say to my students, friends and colleagues, that ancient Kemitian, Nubian and Mediterranian historical contributions exists all around us, in the architecture, sciences, philosophy and more importantly in western religion. We just have to know what we are looking at and how to interpret it. Linguistics play a major role in discipering this vast body information. Perhaps, there is no part of modern society that the architects of the most ancient foundations (Kemitian ancestors) have not played a role in. When it comes to laying the foundation for our philosophical, spiritual and material world their hand prints are all over history. The blade that cuts both ways is that we must do some work in-order to reclaim what we have forgotten over the ages. This begins by incorporating sacred rituals back into our lives; daily prayer and meditation cleve us closer to our own divinity. Then we can begin to unfold the truth (light) underneath some very basic and everyday observances (ie. the Lords Prayer, religious practices and even our civil structures). All contain simple truths that tell a larger story about our history and help to define the role we should play on the material, ethereal and spiritual plains. Next, I would say, read, read, read, truth can be found (light) in all things seen and unseen (perceived). We have only to apply the use of sacral, solar and heart (daat) chakras. If we, as individuals or a collective are truly interested in transforming our current day situations, there are some simple tasks that must be performed. Mainly, daily prayer/meditation, seek knowledge and prioritize our material worlds are our starting point. Prioritizing our material lives as most would proclaim, seems to be the most difficult thing to accomplish. Well, start small, a suggestion would be, please dont buy things you do not need. This requires understanding the difference between what is needed and what is desired. So ask yourself a few questions, will the thing I desire to purchase or can not live without enhance me on a deeper level? And if, it makes me feel better in the moment, will it fill this emptiness, I am trying to camouflage from the world? This is a good start, there maybe other important questions to ask ones self. Distinguishing between the two will take practice, but nothing given, nothing gained. Other suggestions would be balance your work life with quality family time. Have at least one meal a day with someone you really care about (ie. husband/wife, partner, children or friend). It helps to put a sense of leisure and intimacy back in our lives. Dont forget to include the ritual of grace in these special moments. Let the universe know you are thankful for the blessings you receive daily. I learned years ago, while traveling in France how important it is to slow down in-order to enjoy and receive quality time with those you love. Europeans really take time daily and especially on the weekends to enjoy walks in the gardens and rolling around on the lawns with their friends and family. So just slow down and live a more perceptive life. Get off automatic, think about what you do and why? By doing so, we are better able to make more conscious choices in our moment to moment lives. This is so important, if we are ever to shake off the slave mentality; really embracing to freedom. I would say, take time to smell the roses, but its been said before. When we have accomplished this as a community; seeking real leisure in stead of that found in the latest sneaker purchase, facial cream, lipstick, spa soap, cell phone, denim, sports car and so on, we will be well on our way to enlightenment. Real leisure and freedom, instead of the synthesized kind we have allowed to replace a kinship with our divinity, becomes what we actively seek. Simply put, these steps will place us firmly on the path of self realization. "Happiness lies in your own hand It took me much too long to understand How it could be Until you shared your Secret with me." - Madonna/ Dallas Austin Having taken a brief look into the mind of shackle free living, let us now venture back to the light of our divinity. While researching the word doxology another very curious insight came about. The etymology of this word goes directly back to the Kintu speaking peoples in Southern Africa who speak one of the Shona languages. Shona proper is one of the official languages of Zimbabwe and more than eighty percent of the population (6.23 million SIL 1989) speak this language. I would assume it was largely handed down through the oral tradition until the early twentieth century when it was official codified, then later fixed in the 1950s. (Please note: all references are based on Western resources, so those webs I spoke of earlier, might well have concealed direct light). ChiShona is also spoken by a substantial number of residents of Mozambique, Zambia and Botswana. In all the speakers of this language group total more than 7 million (UBS 1990). To make a long story short, the word doxology, an expression of praise to God, especially a short hymn sung as part of a Christian worship service. And as I pointed out before, its origins are found in the Greek word doxologia, which comes from the ChiShona word, dokein, meaning; to seem. And then the light came gushing in, Oh, my God the ties that bind us to the ancient past will surely bring us into the kingdom of heaven. When we look at the original version of the Lords Prayer, the dokein (For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever) does not exist. It was added during the time the traditional version of the Lords Prayer was being produced. The producers of this translation thought to enhance its power by adding this little recognized secret. This doxology is not a doxology at all, it more closely fits the definition of a dokein; appearing to be something it is not. It has been called one thing to conceal its true identity. What it truly is is the Kabbalistic Cross of Light, a ritual meant to help us feel the power of the Tree of Life resonating through our body. (Melville) The aim of the Kabbalistic Cross is to ally the personality with the true source of life, allowing a channel to be opened so that we can enter into consciousness. Regular practice brings recognition of the transcendental self. It simply bridges the conscious and unconscious, permitting the mind to be made porous to divine things. Once mastered, the Kabbalistic Cross becomes a foundation stone. It can be performed in a second, at any moment of crisis, during trance or a pause in a larger group ritual, to strengthen, make secure and concentrate ones consciousness (ie. during church services, before and after prayer, after awakening from a dream/nightmare or for higher levels of magic). It activates the heart charka (Da-at), making it an appropriate exercise for healing, achieving inspiration and other affairs of the heart. To work with the Kabbalistic Cross of Light stand facing east, use the right hand configured in the sign of benediction. Your middle and index fingers standing straight up with the third and smaller fingers folded into the palm of the hand. The thumb should be placed over the last two fingers, making complete the sign of benediction (weavings.co.uk). Imagine a sphere of the purest white light just above ones head and with the sign of benediction draw the light down into your forehead and say, (1)ATEH (Unto Thee), (2) Bring the line of light into your breast saying, IAO (Thine), (3)Drawing the light down through the body towards the feet saying, MALKUTH (Is the Kingdom), (4) String the light up to the right shoulder, then say, VE GEBURAH (The Power) and the left shoulder saying, VE GEDULAH (the Glory), Finally, see and feel the power of the great cross of light running through you. Bring both hands up, cupping them over your heart and say, LE OLAHM, AMEN (Forever and ever, confirmed with my entire being) Don't be afraid, this is one of the purest rituals of light, so go on, and say the words in vibration and in action. They are written here in Hebrew as they should be use for us to access the fullness of their life sustaining force.
